First licensed in 1993 as KB7VML, I was granted W0YR in October 2017. I enjoy a number of different aspects of Amateur Radio including:
- Designing and building new antennas
- Volunteering with Story County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) and Story County Amateur Radio Club (SCARC – W0YL)
- Emergency Preparedness
- Assisting with communications for public service events such as the Great Ames Adventure Race, Head of the Des Moines Regatta, American Lung Association “Fight For Air” Stair Climb, Dam to Dam Marathon, and many other events
- (Very) casual radio contesting
- Experimenting!
